If you're the owner of a 97-99 Dodge Ram 2500 then you have some important options you have to select before getting some new u-joints. Most of them are pretty easy, but some might require you to crawl under your truck and figure out what you got. The first thing you'll need to know is if your front shaft at the front axle has an inside or outside lock ring. If you have the outside lock ring it will have a circular shape with tangs and be at the top. If you have the inside lock ring then it'll look like a C and be at the bottom.
2 or 3 U-Joints?
The next thing you'll need to know is if your rear shaft as 2 or 3 joints. If it has three then you're done with that and ready to move on. If you have 3 however you'll need to know if they have an inside or outside lock ring on them. These options will change the u-joints you'll need for your vehicle so it's important to select the correct options.
What Kind of Cab Do you Have?
The last thing thing you'll need to know is the kind of cab you have. If you have a regular cab then you'll also have to get a measurement on your bearings. If you have a 1 3/16" or a 1 3/8" bearing is going to greatly change what kind of u-joints you need. If you have a club cab or a quad cab then you're done and ready to check out!
