Moog Problem Solver: Rear Lower Control Arm CK641180
Salt equals nightmare
Would you ever think that salt could derail the suspension on a Jeep? At our DST warehouse in central Texas, we don't get a whole lot of salt truck action. Unfortunately many of you Jeep Liberty owners in northern climates have experienced this nightmare. When it snows or ices on the roads, the salt trucks deploy to save the day. Unfortunately for you, the salt left on the roads mixes with water and can invade your suspension, corroding your rear lower control arms and causing the rear sway bar link attachment to break off. Once either of these happens, the Liberty that once provided a smooth ride will become loose and noisy.
Original Design Flaws
Moog's problem solver line has a solution for you. Moog's problem solver parts target factory defects or poor original design, replacing them with a better more durable part. In the OE design on the left, you can see the flaws that are causing the problem. For the 02-07 Liberty, Moog has designed a rear lower control arm replacement that is more rugged and durable than the original design: Moog part number CK641180.
Superior design and construction
Utilizing a larger box construction, the CK641180 control arm adds more strength and durability. Each end of the control arm is open, unlike the OE design, to ensure that water does not get trapped in the part, helping to eliminate corrosion. Also, Moog eliminates the welded bracket issue by allowing the sway bar link to bolt directly onto the arm. The CK641180 provides superior strength and durability for your Jeep Liberty, especially when compared to the flawed OE design.
